My "Me" Day

Posted by My Virtual World at 10:25 PM 0 comments
It was my 37th birthday, and I decided to sneak a day for myself, my "me, myself and I" day. For a busy mom like me, I think spending a day for myself once a year is not bad. It is a reward that every mom should enjoy.

To save, I have bought vouchers from metrodeal.com and made reservations three weeks before my planned "Me Day".

I have arrived at Ortigas Center at 12NN. My first stop was at "Hair to Go" salon for a Keratin Hair Treatment, which usually cost P1,200, but because I have a voucher, it only costs me P188. My hair was very dry; I've never had treatment for a long time. The Keratin Hair Treatment has brought back the shine on my hair. The procedure was finished at 1:30PM.

My next stop was Chowking, my favorite fast food chain. I ordered Yangchow rice, beef siomai and Naicha.

After lunch, I went ahead to my next destination, DermaBest, where I have Rejuvenating Facial and Diamond Peel, which cost P1500, but I only pay P190 because of the voucher. Much of my white heads were wiped-off and I suddenly felt refreshed after the procedure.

I also had time to drop by at Lay Bare Podium to have my legs waxed. They have  promos for birthday celebrators, aside from 15% discount on major services, they also give free Eyebrow Threading. Hence, I enjoyed two services, half legs waxing and eyebrow threading, for only P255.

I went home at 8PM and before I go to bed, I spent time with my Creator. I thanked Him for everything, for all the experiences, for all the blessings and the trials that have made me a better person today.

It is so much rewarding to be a mother. We need to learn to take care of ourselves to give 100% caring for our family and other people around us.

Online Job Wanted

Posted by My Virtual World at 11:51 AM 0 comments
Every day before I sleep, I am watching late night news. Though there more distressing news than pleasant one, I still want to watch the news to keep me updated. Having a dose of awareness of what is happening in my country gives me an idea to source out additional ways to make money. I have thought of having a sideline which I can work-out after office hours and in the comfort of my home. Thus, I searched for jobs online. There are many online jobs available in the net. They are all offering a highly attractive salary; they even show proof of income like cheques, screenshots of payment credited to Pay Pal account and testimonials. In fact, one of the sites has enticed me to sign-up and pay $23, just to find out later that I need to purchase a domain, which costs $37, in order to activate my online business.

My search has directed me to Essays.ph and Writers.ph. Since I love writing, I decided to give these a try. Let's see my future in writing and what will it bring to me.

Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)

Posted by My Virtual World at 12:18 PM 0 comments
My dad suffered from Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) or mini stroke three weeks ago. It just started from a loud noise he heard from his inner ear and suddenly followed by a tremendous fainting; and few seconds more, he can no longer move his right hand and right legs. He was alone in the house when this happened. He tried his best to crawl from the living room to the bedroom. Because he could not shout for help, he chose to just stay in the room.
The attack started at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. My mom went home at 6 o'clock in the evening. When she entered the house and went to the bedroom, she saw my dad lying face down on the bed. She thought my dad was sleeping. But when she turned on the light, my dad started to utter garbled words and swayed his left hand. My mom was so shocked and suddenly rushed to help my dad. She lifted my him and asked for help from the neighbors. One of our neighbors managed to give my dad a pineapple juice before he was rushed to the hospital. After a few minutes, dad's speech became normal and he could again move his right arms and legs. When they arrived at the hospital, all traces of the attack were already gone except for a little fainting. The doctor's initial finding was Meniere's disease. The doctor said my dad can go home once the fainting is gone. But more than two hours has passed and my dad was still fainting. He was admitted for thorough examination.

My dad undergone 2D Echo and CT Scan. The 2D Echo test result showed that my dad's heart was weak. Because of this, my dad was subjected to Coronary Angiography (angiogram). This is a diagnostic test to visualize the blood in the coronary arteries. Three clogged veins were identified after the test, one 70%, the others 90% and 100% clogged.

Video of my dad's heart, taken during the angiogram

Thallium Viability test was also performed on my dad to know the recovery percentage rate of his heart. Fifty-five percent (55%) of my dad's heart is irreversible, thus a chance to restore the functionality of my dad's heart is very little. Because of this, the doctor neither recommended surgery nor angioplasty. He issued discharge-order instead and prescribed take-home medicines. He advised to strictly follow the schedule of medicine in-take and follow-up consultation. The doctor also ordered my dad to stop smoking.

This was a very challenging one that I didn't know how did we surpass the fear and all downsides that this experience has brought my family. Looking up to Jesus brought forth comfort and peace. We believe on God's purpose, He allowed this to happen for a cause.

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body,"
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
