Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)

Posted by My Virtual World at 12:18 PM 0 comments
My dad suffered from Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) or mini stroke three weeks ago. It just started from a loud noise he heard from his inner ear and suddenly followed by a tremendous fainting; and few seconds more, he can no longer move his right hand and right legs. He was alone in the house when this happened. He tried his best to crawl from the living room to the bedroom. Because he could not shout for help, he chose to just stay in the room.
The attack started at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. My mom went home at 6 o'clock in the evening. When she entered the house and went to the bedroom, she saw my dad lying face down on the bed. She thought my dad was sleeping. But when she turned on the light, my dad started to utter garbled words and swayed his left hand. My mom was so shocked and suddenly rushed to help my dad. She lifted my him and asked for help from the neighbors. One of our neighbors managed to give my dad a pineapple juice before he was rushed to the hospital. After a few minutes, dad's speech became normal and he could again move his right arms and legs. When they arrived at the hospital, all traces of the attack were already gone except for a little fainting. The doctor's initial finding was Meniere's disease. The doctor said my dad can go home once the fainting is gone. But more than two hours has passed and my dad was still fainting. He was admitted for thorough examination.

My dad undergone 2D Echo and CT Scan. The 2D Echo test result showed that my dad's heart was weak. Because of this, my dad was subjected to Coronary Angiography (angiogram). This is a diagnostic test to visualize the blood in the coronary arteries. Three clogged veins were identified after the test, one 70%, the others 90% and 100% clogged.

Video of my dad's heart, taken during the angiogram

Thallium Viability test was also performed on my dad to know the recovery percentage rate of his heart. Fifty-five percent (55%) of my dad's heart is irreversible, thus a chance to restore the functionality of my dad's heart is very little. Because of this, the doctor neither recommended surgery nor angioplasty. He issued discharge-order instead and prescribed take-home medicines. He advised to strictly follow the schedule of medicine in-take and follow-up consultation. The doctor also ordered my dad to stop smoking.

This was a very challenging one that I didn't know how did we surpass the fear and all downsides that this experience has brought my family. Looking up to Jesus brought forth comfort and peace. We believe on God's purpose, He allowed this to happen for a cause.

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body,"
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Facing and Defeating The Giants

Posted by My Virtual World at 9:42 PM 0 comments
I was very blessed by God's wonderful message last Sunday. It uplifted my soul and encouraged me to continue moving forward. David and Goliath's story is very familiar, to some it is so usual. But last Sunday, it has a different impact. God has taught me to look at the story on a different angle and showed me how to defeat the giant, in God's way:

1. Have a right mindset.

2. Ignore offenses.

3. See things in a positive way.

4. Focus on the big God, not on the problem.

5. Trust in the power of the living God, who supplies everything.

We are not an ordinary armies, we are "God's armies"

"David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee." I Samuel 17:37

The Best Friend You'll Ever Have

Posted by My Virtual World at 3:08 AM 0 comments
Have you ever been in a situation where in you felt you're in the lowest part of your life and there's no one to turn to? You are looking for somebody who can understand you but failed to find one? Then at one point, you find yourself in a room, all alone, your eyes bursting with tears and murmuring your pains. Then, you realized you are talking to Jesus.

Proverbs 18:24 says, "Some friendships do not last, but some friends are more loyal than brothers". His communication line is always open. His ears are always ready to listen. And whenever we are in the pit of discouragement, loneliness and fear, He will surely not abandon us ("I will never leave you nor forsake you" - Heb 13:5).

Make Jesus your best friend. Say it all to Him and after that fine conversation with Him, your strength will be restored and you will suddenly feel the joy, calmness and comfort, brought by the touch of His loving hands.

Never Lose Hope, Never Give Up

Posted by My Virtual World at 4:37 AM 0 comments
Last year was a challenge-full year for me. A year of survival, a year of financial battle. But that year made me a better, wiser and stronger person. And that year has proven how good my God is. God has showed me that in times of trouble and trials, He will never, ever leave me. I am always touched by the song "Foot Prints in the Sand". He says that, "In times of trouble, I walked with you all the way. In time you only see a set of footprints, it was then that I carry you." So, never lose hope, never give-up, don't quit, God is there to help... all the way!

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7

Still Begging...

Posted by My Virtual World at 10:22 PM 0 comments
This morning my husband and two children went at the mall. It's been two months since we last took our children on a mall trip. That's was a part of budget-cutting :-)

We took our lunch at Jollibee, my kids favorite fast food restaurant. While eating, my son saw an old beggar. He asked me, "Mommy, what happened to that woman? Why is she dirty?" I answered, "I don't know, maybe she doesn't have a family anymore that could take good care of her?". I saw in my son's eyes how he pity the old woman. She is just one of the many elders left at the streets. No permanent shelter and begging to have something to eat. I asked my son, "Would you allow mommy to beg when I get old?" He answered, "No, I will take good care of you." My heart was touched and I felt my son's sincere desire to help me when I get old.

Parents should be thankful for having caring children. But while preparing for our kids future, while we are helping them build a career, we should also be prepared for our golden years. Our children will have their own life, their own family. We should not put our future on their shoulders.

Biblical Rules

Posted by My Virtual World at 4:35 AM 0 comments
This was sent to me by a friend, just want to share to bless others too:

Rules from God for everyday living:

1. Wake Up !! Decide to have a good day.
"Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" Psalms 118:24

2. Dress Up !! The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart."
I Samuel 16:7

3 . Shut Up!! Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul." Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!!..... For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. "Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good...." Galatians 6:9-10

5. Look Up !!... To the Lord.
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13

6. Reach Up !!... For something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path."
Proverbs 3:5-6

7. Lift Up !!... Your Prayers.
"Do not worry about anything;
Instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING."
Philippians 4:6

Always remember, "God answers prayer".
